The hill to the south-east of the city; from here you see Trabzon, the port and the Black Sea in a single glance. Its old name is Minthrion. The viewing terrace and walking path opened in 2023 start at Kızlar Monastery and run east; on the hill are the Ahi Evren Dede Mosque and tomb.

Good to know before you go

  1. Boztepe is the hill to the south-east of the city centre; in the Byzantine and Pontic periods it was known as Minthrion, and it has been a place of religious visits since ancient times.

  2. The Boztepe Viewing Terrace and Walking Path opened on 23 April 2023; the path, roughly 1 km long, starts at Kızlar Monastery and runs east.

  3. The construction date of the Ahi Evren Dede Mosque on the hill is not known; it has survived to the present through Hacı Hakkı Baba’s repair of 1888. The mosque and the tomb are on the same site.

Boztepe is to the south of the hotel. Going up by car or taxi is the most comfortable; if you would like to walk, you can follow the walking path that starts at Kızlar Monastery.
